We offer a wide range of free technology services, with offerings changing as the technology changes.
Visit any branch and enjoy free computer and internet access
- You can use public computers and other devices for free when you visit any of our branches.
- You can access the internet from any of our public computers.
- All library locations offer free 24 hour high speed wireless internet access, both inside and adjacent to the building (where possible).
- You can drop in or call your branch to book in advance.
- You don’t need a library card to book or use a public computer.
- Some of our busier branches may have a daily time limit for computer use.
- All computers are shut down 10 minutes before the branch closes.
- You must adhere to the Public Computer and Internet Use Policy and the Code of Conduct Policy.
How to book
- You can book a computer session up to three (3) days in advance (in person or by calling your branch).
- Unbooked computers may be used on a drop-in basis.
- Upon arrival for a pre-booked or drop-in session, you’ll need to check in with library staff. We’ll ask for your name.
- Users do not need a library card to book a computer session or sign on.
- Computer use sessions are one hour. You can stay longer if no one else is waiting.
Printing, Scanning, Faxing
You can print and scan documents at any of our branches. Faxing is available at select branches. Call your branch to find out more about faxing.
Printing & Photocopying fees (cash only):
- Black & White printing: $0.20 single-sided, $0.40 double-sided.
- Colour Printing: $0.50 single-sided, $1.00 double-sided.
- Scanning is free.
Public Computers
All branches have public computers and printers available for use.
- Our computers have internet access and common software applications including Firefox, Chrome, Edge, Microsoft Office, etc.
- You can bring your own headsets and USB flash drives.
Accessible Public Computer Workstations
- Large-print keyboard, trackball mouse, larger monitor.
- Adjustable height keyboard tray or higher table height for wheelchair access.
- Assistive technology: Windows Ease of Access Center with features including Magnifier, Narrator, High-Contrast and onscreen keyboards.
- Accessible computer workstations are available at our Windsor and Port Williams branches.
Express Use Workstations
- Designated for quick (15 minute or less) internet access, printing or other types of short-duration needs.
- Available for drop-in sessions, on a first-come, first-served basis.
- Cannot be booked in advance.
- Express use workstations are available at our Wolfville, Bridgetown branches.
