Borrow by Mail

Borrow By Mail is a free library outreach service provided for residents of the Annapolis Valley who live further than 10 kilometers from a library branch, or who are physically unable to visit a branch. Items are mailed return postage paid!

Frequently Asked Questions

You can select items from our Online Catalogue. A wide variety of material in many categories is available. The size of the items and how they relate to your mailbox size is a factor to be considered. The items will be mailed to you return postage paid!

We allow 5 weeks from the time of mailing out until the item is due back at the library. That should allow you 4 weeks for the actual use of the item. Items may be renewed if there is no waiting list. You will receive notices if items become overdue. You cannot borrow additional material if there are overdue items.

There is no limit on the number of items you may borrow, providing no other items are overdue. How many items can be mailed to you at one time will depend on the size of your mailbox and method of picking up your mail.

Our online catalogue can help. Specialized book-lists can be mailed or e-mailed to you if your prefer. The staff will be pleased to help you determine what suits your reading tastes!

Yes! Your library card is valid for any service the Annapolis Valley Regional Library provides. Items signed out at a branch  may have a different loan period. Always consult staff regarding loan times so you are clear about when your item is due.

There are  NO FINES  charged on items signed out through the Borrow by Mail service. If enough time has elapsed that you receive an overdue notice regarding the returned items, please notify us immediately.
